X-Weave

Great for Necklaces/Bracelets

X-Weave really is Half Persian but with 4 in 1 instead of 3 in 1. It is a great pattern for bracelets and necklaces. It is thicker and bulkier than the 3-in-1 Half Persian, but also a works very well with rubber and aluminum rings

Note: With most weaves in chainmail there are a variety of ways to put the rings together. This is just how I find it easiest to create this weave. If you find a way that is more suited to you, or the size of the ring you are working with, do what you find is personally the best.

Step 1:

To start this weave, use 5 rings, opening 1 and closing 4.

Step 2:

Put the 4 closed rings on the 1 open ring and close it. When this is done you will have a standard 4 in 1 four-block.

Step 3:

The hardest part about this weave is getting it started. Notice in the image that the middle 2 rings overlay each other going from highest to lowest. This needs to be maintained to continue the weave.

Step 4:

Insert one ring going thru the center 2 rings and out right before the far right ring, then add one closed ring and close. Once closed this pattern should be held tight until the next ring is inserted as it will be unstable and can be hard to get back together.

Step 5:

Add 1 more ring through the middle of the second to last ring on the right and out before the end of the far right ring, then add 1 closed ring and close.

Step 6:

Add 1 more ring through the middle of the second to last ring on the right and out before the end of the far right ring, then add 1 closed ring and close.

Step 7:

Add 1 more ring through the middle of the second to last ring on the right and out before the end of the far right ring, then add 1 closed ring and close.

Continue ad nauseum until the chain gets to the desired length.
