Box Weave

Folded 4-in-1

Box Weave is a nice chain pattern for necklaces, bracelets and belts. It is an easier weave. It can be made by making a 4 in 1 European weave and folding it and adding a ring. Note below that the first 7 steps are the same as 4 in 1.

The ring choice here can be very important. If you have rings that are too thick of a guage compared to the Internal Diameter this patter will not be doable or flexable enough to wear.

Step 1:

To start this weave, use 5 rings, opening 1 and closing 4.

Step 2:

Put all 4 closed rings on the 1 open ring and close it. This will create what is called a "four-block".

Step 3:

Lay the four-block out flat pointing the top of the center ring in a specific direction.

Step 4:

Create a second four-block (Step 1) and lay it out with the top of the center ring pointing in the same direction.

Step 5:

Open one ring and connect the 2 four-block so the tops of all 3 center rings point in the same direction.

Step 6:

Create another four-block (Step 1) and lay it out with the top of the center ring pointing in the same direction as the rest.

Step 7:

Open one ring and connect the 2 four-block to the new four-block so the tops of all center rings point in the same direction.

Step 8:

Fold the 4 in 1 chain in half.

Step 9:

Add one ring at the top opposite of the center ring from the fold.

Step 10:

Add one more ring down one from the top opposite of the fold.

Step 11:

Add one more ring down one from the one just added opposite of the fold.

Step 12:

Add one more ring down one from the one just added opposite of the fold.

Step 13:

Continue ad nauseum until the chain gets to the desired length.
